Overall leadership, strategic and tactical direction of our electric utility client’s distribution engineering organization ensuring business is conducted in a responsible and sustainable way, providing the best solutions for customers while sharing in the optimal performance, utilization and management of distribution system assets.  Highly visible role reporting to the SVP of Engineering.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the Distribution Engineering organization by establishing and monitoring organization goals, policies, plans, standards, performance objectives and budget; establishes operating and financial objectives and manages area financial resources
  • Leads the organization by inspiring and motivating the workforce to achieve pre-established goals and objectives
  • Oversees the development of the distribution system long-range plan and annual capital programs in collaboration with Field Operations
  • Develops the annual plans and budgets for Distribution Engineering including staffing levels, work sourcing strategies and Engineering deliverables
  • Oversees the process to benchmark and evaluate system performance and evaluates the cost and benefit of potential improvements and ensures design standards are established, maintained and followed
  • Create strategy and action plans to serve the customer more effectively and provide superior customer service
  • Build the strategic vision and strategy for sustainable performance
  • Develop and implement organizational change management strategies
  • Provides support to Operations during abnormal system conditions

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, BSEE, (power option) or similar, required; MSEE or MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of engineering experience required.  Electric T&D industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multiple cross-functional teams or projects across all disciplines
  • Strong ability to influence and lead others, including senior-level management and key stakeholders
  • Experience providing witness/testimony in regulatory proceedings is a plus
  • Excellent communicator with strong presentation and interpersonal / soft skills
  • Ideal candidate is customer driven; displays initiative as a change agent who accepts responsibility and holds others accountable and makes sound decisions to support strategic objectives
  • Candidate must reside or relocate to CT and be available to work emergency storm assignment as required
