Develop and implement plans, processes, and procedures for the testing and commissioning of transmission and distribution substation equipment and projects.  The successful candidate will utilize a responsible and concise methodology for developing and evaluating engineering and safely placing into regular service various types of substation related relays and equipment efficiently and timely, while developing accurate and precise engineering field changes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review the engineering design for the project and decide the proper sequence of commissioning tasks taking into account the constructability of the project.
  • Establish and witness proper electrical and functional tests and testing methodology, and provides input as to the expected and satisfactory results.
  • Decides if the project is suitable for energization, and is responsible for placing into regular service various types of power equipment and protective devices. 
  • Accountable for managing one’s own time and workflow, to successfully meet project milestones.
  • Daily deliverables for review of design work in the office or testing and commissioning in the field. 
  • Witness and interpret testing, reviews tests performed by others, and procures and produces test reports with summaries and conclusions.
  • With appropriate training, the successful candidate will also serve as a subject matter expert for interpreting infrared thermography imagery of power delivery equipment inspections.

 

Qualifications

  • BSEE, or similar required an advanced degree MSEE, MBA, preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License (required for Sr. Engineer level)
  • 4 - 7+ years of electric utility industry experience
  • Must possess excellent verbal, technical writing and organizational skills
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting capabilities
  • Reporting locations include work-from-home and in the field, including inspection, testing, and commissioning in a utility substation and power distribution environment
  • May be required to travel to various company facilities to assist during normal and storm events
