Manager, Load Forecasting & Member Analytics oversees a high-performing team engaged in data modeling and analysis.  Requires hands-on supervision and development of staff while monitoring long and short-term load forecasts by distribution Members and for the Company overall. Additionally, manages economic and demographic load research and Member surveys.  Team works cross-departmentally to support critical business needs including budgeting, business planning, and energy efficiency. Location: Tampa, FL

 

Responsibilities

  • Customer-centric focus for the Company’s Members
  • Personally performs and supervises staff in long-term and short-term load forecast data requirements, data collection, data processing, exploratory data analysis, modeling and algorithms, data product, and communication of results
  • Regular contact and presentations with Company and Member staff, executives, and Board of Trustees
  • Provides a safe and productive work environment for team members consistent with the desired culture and in full support of the Company’s purpose, core values, core competencies and organizational goals
  • Maintains contact with universities, regulators, and third parties
  • Ability to defend and explain difficult and complex issues with respect to key decisions and positions
  • Participates as a witness for the Company in Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) need determination hearings
  • Actively listens, asks questions, and follows up to effectively address business needs
  • Directs development and issuance of Residential Appliance Saturation Survey
  • Participates in conferences, forums, and training courses for relationship-building and networking
  • Develops department’s annual budget and staffing plan; Manages third-party contracts.
  • Ensures work plan coordination and procedures are compliant with Rural Utilities Service, FPSC and NERC standards, guidelines, and regulations
  • Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; an advanced degree in science, technology, economics or mathematics is desirable
  • 8+ years of related experience, including 6 years in load modeling; and 2+ years of supervisory experience

  • Previous experience in electric utility regulation, rate design, and development is desirable
