Working in a fast-paced environment and based in our Phoenix Office, the Manager will oversee and direct a dynamic team of consulting engineers and program and delivery leads providing Electric Distribution engineering solutions to a variety of electric utility industry clients in the Southwestern US. The qualified individual will require a combination of strong leadership, technical engineering, program management and communication skills and the ability to coach and mentor less experienced engineers. Works closely with Talent Acquisition, Back Office, Field Support and Project Coordinator to ensure program staffing and project deliverables are fulfilled, and that payroll, invoicing and reporting are accurate and timely. Occasional travel (~20%) to meet with clients, employees, and internal business partners is required

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supports interviewing and onboarding of technical resources, facilitating training of new hires to reduce ramp-up time, short term and long-term goal setting, performance appraisals and career development of employees
  • Identify resource requirements based on workload and client expectations
    Supports multiple projects with technical direction to project teams, establishing delivery processes, KPIs, project metrics and enabling best practices in delivery
  • Works with Customers in engagement metrics reporting, competency development for the reporting team structure and owns delivery customer satisfaction
  • Works with Business Development counterparts for Proposal / SOW development and building business cases for customer value propositions and to lower engagement costs
  • Acts as a main point of contact for project and employee management
  • Works with Practice organization very closely in customizing offerings for the customer, delivery value proposition and competency development
  • Provides Senior Management regular status updates and escalates client and employee matters as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar, required; an advanced degree, MSEE, preferred
    Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 15+ years of electric utility industry engineering or program management experience with significant background in Distribution Engineering
  • 7+ years’ experience managing large operations or engagements in Utilities or in companies providing Engineering Services to the utilities industry
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate through a utility and create/nurture client relationships
  • 5+ years’ experience leading technical/engineering teams including, hiring, training and staff development
  • Prior Engineering Consulting is a must with experience setting up or running operations strongly preferred
  • Strong business acumen with experience determining Capital and Expense based program and resource requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication, customer facing, people management skills
  • Experienced customizing offerings to create customer value and to lower engagement costs - technical solution management and strategic outsourcing
  • PMP certification preferred- proven knowledge of project management methods required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills managing large, dispersed teams of diverse skill sets
  • Team player with ability to work in a highly cross-functional and virtual environment
  • Highly proficient in PC applications- MS Office suite of tools.
