Oversee and direct a community water and wastewater utility that provides award-winning service to over 300,000 customers in SW Florida. Responsible for planning, managing and monitoring performance through effective utilization of technologically sophisticated and progressive approaches to service delivery while formulating long-range goals for the organization, developing policy and building strategic partnerships with senior county management. Location: Fort Myers FL

 

Responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for planning, managing and monitoring department performance, including a $64M annual operating budget and 278 employees
• Manages, directs and provides oversight and quality control review of the Division’s Capital Improvement Program, including its involvement in the Utilities’ 10-year, $420M allocation for System CIP projects substantially related to plant and distribution system expansions and improvements to accommodate anticipated population growth in the County over the next decade
• Evaluates and recommends improvements to existing programs and proposes new initiatives, as needed, for efficiency, safety and compliance

 

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or similar, required
• 4+ years of Water Wastewater Utility experience required; preferably within a governmental / municipal agency
• Self-directed, solutions driven, collaborative problem solver with prior supervisory or management experience
• Diverse knowledge base of water and wastewater industry
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to take initiative and use critical thinking to make decisions
• Ability to set long-range vision and excel in business operations
• Strong collaborative and communication skills with the ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders
• Empowers and trusts assigned management team to handle day to day operations
• Focuses on high-level directives and initiatives while maintaining visibility with staff at all levels
• Results driven, focusing on customer service and productivity goals of the department and organization
• Ability to recognize and understand public and political influences
• Will be flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
• Business driven leadership, utilized across team management, operations, and budgetary / fiscal fields
• Experience with regulatory agencies, knowledge of plant and field operations and disaster response is a plus
